Don't Forget To Market Your Music!

Don’t forget the most important part about being a musician. Marketing!

Marketing is one of the first things a musician forgets about when they ask the question why is nobody interested in what I'm doing? It's always the first to be cut and its the last thing to be organised when the planning begins for any release.

Marketing your music is a major key in the success or failure in a lot of careers. If a shitty artist or track is marketed extremely well it may still achieve some success. Whereas if an amazing artist markets poorly they only have a very limited opportunity for success.

No matter how big or small you are every little bit counts and sometimes the first step is the hardest.

I randomly came across this video today of a recent performance by WAVELINK in a DJ Comp on the Gold Coast. Here you have a Duo that is by no means top of the heap, but they’ve seen the comp as an opportunity to showcase their energy and have access to a fun crowd.

Levelling this up even further with a budget as small as $50 could get this video out to 10x the people.

Even try coupling content!

If they had recorded the set as well they could have posted a link with the video , so the video draws the watcher in and the mix is there for anyone that wants more.

Check the video that caught my attention below.
